The Prince of Peace Children’s Home is dedicated to serving orphaned children with special needs in China, and we gladly welcome visitors and volunteers who bring “love from around the world”.

Many of our visitors and volunteers are local college students or residents from the adjacent senior housing village. We also receive support from individuals from other provinces or countries, corporate groups, and other non-profit organizations.

become a volunteer

We love having volunteers come and help at the Prince of Peace Children’s Home. Although Mandarin speaking volunteers are highly desirable, we encourage anyone wanting to volunteer to sign up. Our volunteers responsibilities range from basic duties to more unique, specific responsibilities based on the volunteers’ skills.

BASIC NEEDS

The most important responsibility while staying with us at the Prince of Peace Children’s Home would be caring for our children which includes:

  • Playing with children

  • Reading stories

  • Assisting with feeding

  • Cleaning classrooms

  • Washing dishes, utensils & bottles

  • Decorating

UNIQUE SKILLS

Whether it is computer skills that can help our staff or artistic skills that can help with painting our classroom, we welcome all. Some past experiences are listed below.

visit us

The Prince of Peace Children’s Home enjoys having visitors come tour the facility and meet with the children. We are very proud of our work and love showing others what we do here at POPCH. We are available for tours Monday through Friday, minus holidays, from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Complimentary lunch will be provided from Monday to Friday (except holidays) for all visitors during lunch time (12:00pm-1:00pm). Below you will find more information about the POPCH tours as well as the application form. Thank you for your interest.


HALF DAY TOUR

We suggest beginning at 9:30am and staying with us until 11:30am

1 HOUR TOUR

Tours are from 10:00am to 3:30pm. We suggest scheduling a tour at 10:00am, 2:30pm or 3:30pm.

5. Stock Donation

Currently, POP's Foundation is unable to accept stock donations directly. We kindly encourage donors to consider making stock contributions through a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF). When you donate appreciated stocks to a DAF sponsoring organization (such as Fidelity Charitable or Schwab Charitable), the DAF will handle the liquidation of the stocks. Donors can then recommend a grant to POP's Foundation from the proceeds. This method may enable donors to receive full tax benefits while continuing to support our mission.
