NOTES for volunteers:

1. Suggested length of period: 2 weeks or above
2. Mandarin speaking is highly desirable for communication and function effectively.
3. All application will be subjected for the approval from our local counterpart Civil Affairs Bureau. Please send back the application form to us at least one month in advance.
4. Lodging:

  • Dormitory for 4 people with basic furniture and household appliances can be provided at daily room rate RMB50 per person subject availability;
  • Home Inn, a business inn located 4km from childrenĄ¯s home, daily room rate is around RMB170 per room (2 beds with hot shower/ TV and Internet service/exact rate subject to confirmation);
  • Hanting Inns and hotel, a business inn located 4km from childrenĄ¯s home, daily room rate is around RMB158 per room (2 beds with hot shower/ TV and internet service/ exact rate subject to confirmation);
  • All-legend, a 4-star hotel located 10km from childrenĄ¯s home, daily room rate is around RMB 320 per room (2 beds with hot shower/TV and internet service/ western restaurant and Chinese restaurant/ exact rate subject to confirmation)
5. Meal: An average meal usually costs about RMB 10 ¨C RMB 25 per person. Free lunch will be provided in POPCH from MON-FRI (except public holidays).
6. Transportation:
  • Transportation from Wuqing train station upon your arrival at and departure from the project will be provided.
  • Pick up by rental car from designated point in Tianjin city or Beijing city to project can be arranged at the cost of volunteers upon request;
  • Travel to nearby areas such as Beijing and Tianjin downtown during weekends can be arranged at the cost of volunteers upon request.

7. Travel insurance: Please purchase the necessary travel insurance before your departure from your home country/place of residence.
8. Vaccination: Please ensure you are vaccinated against Hepatitis A, B and tuberculosis.
9. Shopping for daily necessities: There is a supermarket next to the residential district of the project where food, groceries and personal necessities can be bought.
10. It is inappropriate to discuss matters relating to politics/religion, contact the local churches and Christians without prior approval, or distribute leaflets on religion.
